about me / contact
Hi! I'm Iásio Neris, I'm a 2D animator and Illustrator based in Rio de Janeiro. I started my journey in the animation industry in 2014, at the age of 18. Since then, always working full time for Copa Studio and sometimes as a freelancer for other studios. My first position at Copa was as a Rigging Intern. During that time I was able to get knowledge and skills in Toon Boom Harmony that were fundamental for me to become a more complete and mature animator. Always up-to-date on new software tools and proposing creative solutions to problems that arise during production. As an animator I was able to participate in the following projects: “Trunk Train” (2015), “Haunted Tales - The Movie” (2016), “Jorel's Brother” (2016/2017/2018), “Giga Blaster” (2018), “Ico BitZip ”(2018/2019). Be able to work in all these projects, each one with very different characteristics in terms of character design and animation style, made me a more mature and experienced animator. Nowadays I feel secure to work in any type of production. As a professional artist, I’m always trying to balance quality and time. Always seeking to deliver a quality product within the deadline that is proposed. In 2019 I had the opportunity to supervise the animation team of “Tuiga” series. During that time I worked closely with the Animation Director, helping to develop the series' animation language, some pre-production materials (animation cycles, poses, riggings) and helping the team to be always looking for creative and efficient solutions. During the project I was able to share with the team (and especially with the younger trainees and animators) all the experience and learning that I’ve got over the years, helping to create a charismatic and technical quality final product. From the end of 2019 until the middle of 2020 I made part of the Character Design team for the production of a feature film from the studio, it was a very enriching experience. Despite working mostly as an animator, I am passionate about drawing, illustration, character design and painting. I truly believe that understanding and experiencing all the processes of the animation production chain will make me a better and more complete artist. And in the future they will help me to be more prepared to, who knows, lead an animation team and also be able to create my own projects and tell my own stories.
